What Types of Backlinks are Valuable?

But apart from that there are certain things that need to be considered as well.
Quality of the backlinks whether nofollow or dofollow is equally important. For a higher ranking of the website, authority and quality of the source website needs to be checked. Poor quality backlinks can do more harm than good.
Even if your website has a huge number of backlinks, it won’t get a good ranking.
Unless it has good quality backlinks because they are pretty much more powerful than poor backlinks.

Determining Good Quality backlinks:

• The source website of the backlink should be the one with a high domain authority and must be a trusted source so that search engines can put their trust on the target(your) websites as well.
  Since the source website must be of high domain authority, it is quite difficult to get a backlink from the same but having said that, it is completely worth the effort.
• The source website and the target website, must be related to each other in one or the other way, so that the backlinks hold a valid meaning. Like for example, it won’t look good if an educational website is linking to a wedding vendor website. The niche or the topics must be connected to establish a good quality backlink.
• While we make a backlink, we often make it on the keywords so that it becomes easier for the search engines to locate the link and update the ranking accordingly.
  So make sure, the source website has made the link to your site on your target keywords as anchor text which is a visible part of the backlink.
• The backlinks should come from unique source websites.
• The backlink is a dofollow link. We have already discussed it earlier. However you need to know that nofollow links can be established via comments, paid advertisements, press releases etc.

How to get good quality backlinks?

• “Content is the king”, you need to have something valuable on your website which is worth linking to, that means you have to create something known as Linkable Assets for e.g a blog, an article , some quiz or surveys, any informational video, a list that you find important for the readers.
  You can include something that is not easily available over the Internet and people would be curious to know more about it. Though the process is time-consuming but at the end you will find it worth the effort.
• Broken Link Building: Here in this process , you look out for the web pages with 404 errors which could be discovered by locating the resource pages of your particular niche.
  for e.g search this string in Google: “wedding” + “resources” or “wedding” + “resources pages”. Then use some tools like  nifty Check My Links Chrome Extension to find the broken links.

Send an email to the site owner informing him about the broken link, ask him to replace the link with the one that links to your website because you have better quality content. This way you can find some relevant and good quality backlinks.

• Link Roundups can be a great source for good quality backlinks. Such posts which are created just to link out to a list of good quality content is referred to as Link Roundups and after finding such a roundup for your niche, you can create an amazing blog post and ask the owner of the roundup to add your blog post to their roundup.You won’t get disappointed.
• Guest posting: Some people might think that guest posting is quite an outdated way to get backlinks, but truth is something else.All you need to do is to find websites that are related to your industry and niche, find a topic that is of interest for the source website, develop a good quality content and then get ready to boost organic traffic to your website.
• Create Infographics: Images and videos are a better way of communication with the audience as compared to text, so make the best use of it and get good quality backlinks.
• Commenting on blog posts: Find people who are posting regularly in your niche and appreciate their work, also tell the audience that they can get quality information like that on your website as well. 
• Align yourself with Google’s Mission to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful, when you think it that way, you will be making efforts to make your content more valuable for the audience and Google is going to appreciate that. 
• Make sure your site is having easy navigation so that the people who are browsing it for the first time don’t get confused and leave without digging into it.
• You need to research the demographics of your target audience, focus on their needs, demands and then create something that adds value to their life. Such content is likely to get more quality backlinks and visitors.
• Link Reclamation: You have to find out first about the websites that are using your content or reference but not linking to your website.

  Also this way you can also express your gratitude towards people that have linked to your website without you asking them to.
  
• Podcasts: They can really boost organic traffic to your brand and website, as they drive people to directly search your brand online signalling google about your popularity which in turn is a good signal. You can either have a podcast or become a guest at someone else’s podcast, and create good quality backlinks soon.
• Be competitive: Be aware of all your competitors in your niche and keep a check on the sites linking to them, you can find an opportunity to get a high quality backlink from there as well.
• Keyword research is crucial: When making high quality backlinks, it is important to note that anchor text used must be your specific keyword so that it is not something off-topic and does more harm than good. Your keyword research should be very precise and select keywords that best describe your business and brand.

For e.g. If you are a wedding venue service provider, then keywords like wedding songs, wedding photography are not related and hence must not be used for backlink creation.
